Here is a pair of shox that I am wearing today at work. Yes, today is casual today for us at work and we are allowed to wear tennis shoes along with a pair of jeans. Well I usually do not wear tennis shoes because the pair I had up to this point were old and once were white but now have that yellow glaze, kind of like our eyes after a long day.
Well now those shoes will serve their next purpose, lawn shoes. We all have a pair of shoes that will only be worn when we mow the lawn. Well I am literally “going green” with that pair of tennis shoes.
Enough about that, how did I get a pair of Shox for $19.99? Well it’s easy and it’s all about mindset. There is power in looking for the best deal possible. When you walk into a store and you tell yourself you are going to walk out of that store with something, get ready to pay. If you do not need to purchase anything and still do, I consider that double pay.
We have all done it, we walk into a store to buy ink and end up walking out with a new printer because it costs just about the same, you double paid.
Well I walked into Foot Locker the other day with every intent on walking out without a pair of shoes if I didn’t find a deal. A deal to me for a pair of tennis shoes is anything less than $50. When I was a teenager, I lived inside of Foot Locker. I would go to the mall and I would either go to the music shop to purchase a CD or in those days, singles, or I would go to shoe stores to look at all the shoes that I wanted. Of course my parents were paying for the shoes so costs wasn’t an issue or at least not for me. Sorry mom and dad but that was the truth.
I wanted a pair of Nike Shox, I really liked the way they look. I will say upfront that the pair I would’ve walked out with as a teen would have cost $115. Good thing I lost my style right? Well I had a birthday in July and was given a $40 gift card to Foot Locker. Yes, when friends give you a gift card to a shoe store, you may be embarassing them when you where your old tennis shoes. But my wife must have told them that I was in the market for a new pair. What I mean by in the market is that I would be willing to make a purchase in the next 2-3 months.
So all that to say, I looked at all the pairs of shoes (Nike Shox) and then I came to the clearance rack and saw a pair for $59.99. They had my size and knowing that I had a $40 gift card helped me with the purchase. The price tag said $59.99 but in my head I was thinking $19.99 all the way to the register. So I told the guy I’ll take them. They always try to sell the spray, water repellent, socks, t-shirts and everything else they sell, but I said no, because I didn’t want to double pay. Picture above shows the actual shoes that I now own, thats right I own them and paid for them in full.
Hey, I have almost that exact same pair! Mine’s a bit older, but it’s pretty damn close. LOVE those shoes….think I spent $29.99 on them w/ no giftcards or anything 😉 I refuse to spend more than $40 on a pair of shoes when I know I can get it cheaper at *some point*. Only part that sucks is that *some point* doesn’t come but once every year or two. haha…
