5 Steps to Earning More Money in 2010

How many of you could use an extra paycheck every month?

Be honest, even if you don’t need it, the idea of generating an extra check every month is appealing. 

What if the idea turned into a reality?

I am going to be bold in my next statement. 2010 will be the best year financially for my wife and I. Why you might ask. It’s actually quite simple. I have it written down on a napkin that I keep here by my work desk.  Of course it’s not as simple as writing it down but it helps point me in the right direction.

Over the years I have learned to keep a game plan of what I want to accomplish in life. I then create a roadmap and figure out a route that will help me get to my destination.  To add on to this analogy, I then find a network of people who can be voices along the way, like my own personal GPS system that knows when to tell me to turn around. You can accomplish more of your goals when you allow the right people in your life to influence you to make better decisions that do not distract you from your goals.

So, if you want to earn more money in 2010, start with these 5 steps:

1. Write down how much more you want to make.
2. Take an inventory of your own skills. (Sewing, writing, speaking, cooking, construction, etc.)
3. Match those skills with ways to generate income. (maybe consulting or training)
4. Ask a close friend for advice based on your skills (don’t ask the friend who lives on the couch).
5. Pay off debts so you can finally pay yourself first. Become debt free in 2010. Need some inspiration, listen to our debt free scream.

The first four steps above should all lead to number five. After number five you will be on your way to building wealth and living your life the way you were intended to live it. Everybody I talk to who has become debt free say that they feel like they received a raise because they are able to keep more of their paychecks every month.
