Update to my experiment: The auctions on eBay ended and 1 of the 2 products sold. My profit was only $10. But that is half of what I spent on my new pair of pants. So I really got my pants half off. The products were two winter coats and since its not the winter anymore, many already have coats. It was still a fun project, one I will keep trying whenever I buy new clothes.
Today I launched another one of my experiments that I have been doing for years now. The experiment is how to get free clothes. Now I must say that this takes minimal time and basic computer skills and a little money must be spent, but the risk is very low. I will post again when experiment is complete or when the auction ends.
I needed another pair of khaki pants like I do every two years. I know what you are thinking, two years, man you are cheap. You are probably right but nonetheless since these are my every week pants, sometimes twice a week, so I needed a new pair. So I went to Ross stores because I never pay retail and for the prices they have on new clothes, I always find what I need, not want, need. They even beat Wal-Mart’s prices for items that men do not like buying for themselves, socks, undershirts, belts, and yes underoos as my mom used to call them.
Here is how I get free clothes in my book. I bought my pair of Nautica (khakis) for a total of $19.99 plus tax. I took browsed around the store for clothes that I can buy and sell for a profit. I didn’t buy a lot of clothes only enough to make back my money that I needed to cover my purchase which was $19.99. So I found two jackets that I thought were profitable and I listed them on eBay for $10 more than what I paid for them. If I only get one bid on each I will have made enough money to cover my purchase and I walk away with my new pair of khakis. That is how to get free clothes.
What if my item doesn’t sell? This has happened to me a couple of times and that is why I keep the receipt because I have 30 days to return for a full refund or I try another item. You must do the research on what items will sell on eBay. From my experience, shoes sell the best and the higher the size that more you will make because it’s hard to find big sizes at the athletic shoe stores. So the next time you pass by a Ross, TJ Maxx or even a Goodwill store, go in and try to find merchandise that sell, this may be your ticket to become debt free as well.
I mention this method in another post as you recall, How I never pay Retail prices. I will never pay it either, I don’t mind washing a shirt that somebody else previously owned. Clothes don’t make me money, I make money using clothes.
