I am currently in my late twenties and now I am seeing a lot of people getting engaged. During this time I have observed how some guys are purchasing their diamond engagement rings on credit. I understand that it is hard for a young man to save up money for an engagement ring but then I start to thinking about it and its not that hard to save up for one. In fact it should be motivating for a man to work hard to save enough money to buy an engagement ring cash. There is something wrong about buying a ring on credit. Especially when people use bad credit cards to make these purchases.
If anything, start off by purchasing an inexpensive diamond engagement ring and then 5-10 years down the road, upgrade to a more expensive diamond ring. You do not want to start off a marriage in debt, you still have the wedding to pay for and the average wedding can cost $35,000. So take my advice, go for an inexpensive diamond engagement ring if you are planning to pop the question to your future bride. It will mean that much more to her that you purchased the ring by working and saving your money for her.
