Sports Coat Deal
I have been on the market for a sports coat. When I say i’ve been on the market I mean that within the last two years I started looking for a deal on a sports coat. Yes, I know it’s crazy but there are some purchases that i’m not willing to make right away.
I was on my way to a store called K & G here in Dallas. Well my wife talked me into checking out JC Penny before I went to any other store. I took her advice and boy i’m glad I did. I walked into JC Penny knowing I was going to purchase a sports coat. I had recently received a $150 reimbursement and so I had already spend the money in my head. Have you ever done that, say yes to yourself. You had money on hand and you knew exactly how you were going to spend it. At that point it was just a matter of going to the store and making the purchase.
So I walked into JC Penny and went straight to the sales associate in the Mens department and told him that I was there to purchase a sports coat. I did this so he can give me special attention. I usually tell them that i’m just looking if they ask but I wanted to know where all the good deals were. He took me to a rack where coats were $99. This was encouraging to me because already I was going to come in under budget. Well after picking up one of the coats I noticed a clearance rack. I’m a sucker for clearance items, especially if what I wanted was on clearance.
Guess what? There were three different coats on clearance. The tag read $59.99. I asked if it was the correct price and the associate said that they were actually $29.99. I looked at him with amazement and he went on to say that they were that cheap because they were missing the matching slacks. I told him that I was there to purchase coats without slacks. He said that is was my lucky day. But I know that the Lord was looking over me and and granted me favor. I ended up purchasing three coats. As I was checking out I noticed a lady handing out coupons to customers as they were arriving. So I walked over to the lady and asked for a copy. The coupon was to take $15 off a purchase of $75 or more. Since my purchase met the requirement, I was able to use the coupon. By the way, this was the Saturday after Black Friday.
There is power in looking for a good deal and waiting for what you want. As you can see from the receipt the original price of each coat was $160, but I ended up paying a little over $21 for each coat. I don’t know about you but where I come from, that’s a steal my friend. I walked out of the store feeling good about my purchase and I never looked back.
