If you ever read about personal finance and taking control of your finances you probably have heard the name Suze Orman. Suze is known to be upfront and blunt with women when it comes to personal finance. She has several books that are doing well.
All that to say that I was shocked when I logged into my MSN hotmail account and read the headline that said to Stop Listening to Suze Orman.
I was so shocked I called my wife into the office so that she can read it herself. My wife knows about her because we have seen her on the Oprah show and she knows that I have never been impressed with Suze. The primary reason that I didn’t like her was because she was constantly talking about the FICO score and how important it was to keep a good FICO score. Well Dave Ramsey says that the FICO score is an I love DEBT score. Well I’m Debt Free Hispanic and I hate debt and if I have to be in debt to have a good FICO score than let me have the worse FICO score ever.
Why would I need a good FICO score when I have cash? Yes many people like Suze Orman will say that FICO scores will help you get a good mortgage rate, but the FICO score does not pay my bills nor does it keep me out of debt. Thanks but no thanks, I’m sticking with Dave Ramsey’s principals because so far I’ve been able to get out of debt and build wealth giving my wife and I a nice financial cushion. I wish Oprah would have Dave Ramsey on her show during these tough times so that someone can let America in on the secret of living on less than you make.
Plus Dave Ramsey’s principals are biblically based and being a hearer and doer of the Word they fit within my soul and help me become the steward that God called me to be.
Oprah had Dave on her show a couple of years ago.He told it like it was, and Oprah didn’t agree with him so he probably won’t be invited back? I teach Dave’s class (Financial Peace University) at my church. Been on the plan over 3 years, debtfree except the mortgage!!! Keep up the good work!!
I wish I could have see that segment with Dave Ramsey on Oprah. What a powerful combination. See around the office I hear more about Dave Ramsey than I do any other financial counselor. Thanks for sharing Tony and keep up the good work teaching FPU. I also teach seminars about FPU and show dvd’s that Dave Ramsey has and lead discussions with couples. Have a good one.
